A vendor renewal that costs more than the quote says
A 210-person company is 30 days from renewing its data platform. The vendor quotes a flat annual figure and a friendly discount. Procurement, Finance and Legal each read a different subset of the paperwork.
The quoted number is the one that reaches the budget. Everything attached to it lives in four documents nobody reads end to end.

- Assumes the discount applies for the full term because the quote says so.

The quoted figure covers year one only. Rebuilt from the source figures, the three-year commitment lands 22% above the number in the budget.

- The real decision deadline is 90 days out, not 30. That date has likely already passed in the team's calendar.
- Data portability is unaddressed, which is the expensive gap if the relationship ends badly.

- Will the vendor cap annual uplift at a published index?
- Which notice period does the vendor consider binding?
- What export format and window will they commit to in writing?
